2025 Virginia Election Results

On November 4, 2025, Virginia held a General Election for its statewide offices and all 100 House of Delegates seats. Below is a summary of the election results. Because Virginia’s Governor cannot run for reelection, it was an open seat with current Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears running against former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger. Both the Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General can run for consecutive terms in Virginia; however, with Winsome Sears running for Governor, the only statewide incumbent on the ballot was Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares.

Democrats swept the statewide offices and picked up more seats than expected in the House of Delegates. Nearly every county and city in Virginia trended more democratic than in 2024. This provided a significant victory for Governor-elect Spanberger and Democrats down the ticket. Only 5 counties shifted more republican, and it was by a very slight margin. Virginia House Democrats picked up 13 seats to make their majority now 64 to 36 Republicans.
